We are proud to announce the Top 15 Fundraisers for 2011

What an incredible fundraising year 2011 was for supporting kids’ cancer research.

Every dollar fundraised through the Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim goes directly to research finding cures for childhood cancer.

A huge thank you everyone who fundraised and all of those who generously donated. Your support is bringing hope to children tragically battling cancer.

A special thank you to the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club for their continued support in a cure for kids’ cancer. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Through incredible efforts the 2011 Bondi to Bronte fundraisers raised $32,000 for research finding cures for childhood cancer.

Race Report for 2011

To all those people who entered into the 2011 Banana Boat Bondi to Bronte & Junior ocean swim, we at Bronte Surf Club would like to say thank you for your support of our event, we truly hope you enjoyed the day.

This year we had 1950 entrants who braved the Pacific to take a journey swim around one of Sydney's most popular coast line areas.

Thankfully we were blessed with conditions that allowed us to run the event (even though there was a howling southerly) and for all the water safety who were there to help you, we say another big thank you. Without our volunteers and water safety, this event wouldn't be the success it has become over the years.

A few more special thanks must go out to our event major sponsor Banana Boat, plus all the supporting partners, The Sunday Telegraph, Speedo, Fitness First Gatorade and Kellogg's.

A big thank you comes from the team at The Kids Cancer Project, our event and the fundraisers involved managed to raise a total of $28,600 to date. You still have two weeks left before we close the fund raising for the Banana Boat Bondi to Bronte so make sure you chase up those people who can possibly help you win one of the great signed prizes from the Australian Speedo Swim Team.

Banana Boat Bondi to Bronte Ocean Swim Team

Start Time Change for this years B2B

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Swim start time change - 9:30am start from Bondi Beach

3 weeks to go: The Banana Boat Bondi to Bronte is just over 3 weeks away and we hope your training is showing it's results. On the day, make sure you cover up and protect your skin with Banana Boat sunscreen 'Tested in the Australian sun'. There will be Banana Boat sunscreen available at Bondi and Bronte for your protection.

Fundraising: We would like to thank all of the supporters and swimmers who are currently raising money through this event. So far they have collectively raised $6,900 through our event Everyday Hero page. The Kids Cancer Project (Oncology Children's Foundation) is the Banana Boat Bondi to Bronte official charity and in partnership with them, if you raise $250 for The Kids Cancer Project, we'll refund your entry fee of $40 to say thanks for your fundraising. If you want to get started now (click here), you have up until 2 weeks after the event to raise the $250 so there's plenty of time left.

Special Prizes: Thanks to our supporting partner Speedo, we are offering the top fundraisers for The Kids Cancer Project the chance to win some money can't buy items, signed by some of Australia's most elite swimmers. Items up for grabs include a signed copy of Eamon Sullivan's cookbook 'Eamon's Kithchen', a signed copy of Geoff Huegill's 'Be Your Best' biography and an Australian swim cap signed by the 'Missile' James Magnussen.

Water Temp Safety: This year the water already seems to be warmer and hopefully it continues to maintain its temperature or raise a little more. Last year we had some unseasonably cold conditions and introduced the safety policy that if water temp is below 18 degrees, all categories are open to wetsuits. Again and moving forward for all future swims, we'll be maintaining this safety policy.

Gatorade Drink Station: Today it was just confirmed that we have Gatorade on board as our new drink supplier so when you arrive at Bronte, be sure to grab a drink. We'll have both water and Gatorade available and for all those swimmers who arrive early, make sure you leave some Gatorade for the others towards the back.

On the day: On the day if you happen to forget your goggles, we'll have a few spare sets of Futura Biofuse Speedo goggles at Bondi which you can purchase. Once you register for the event and collect your swim cap/timing chip, make sure you get all your belongings onto the transport bus so it's at Bronte when you arrive.

We'll be in contact before the event day to give you any last updates, so until then, keep up the swimming and get ready for a great summer of ocean swimming with the Sunday Telegraph Ocean Swim Series.

B2B training program final email

Are you ready?

This will be the last email from me about the training program, then I will see you at Bondi on Sunday morning 8am.

There are more registrations for the training program flowing in and in case you missed the last email, you can read the training information I sent on the B2B news web page - click here

Some new information is that our event partner Fitness First will be supplying all B2B training participants with a free 4 x entry guest pass to their gyms. This should help you get the last hit out sessions done before the event. Banana Boat will be providing sun screen and Speedo will supply a swim cap too.

Please make sure that you bring your $80 payment with you to the first session. Payment must be received at the first session for you to participate in the program.

Please record all the training dates in your diary so that you don't forget or miss out on the sessions.

I look forward to seeing you at Bondi Beach on Sunday morning 8am.

2011 Training for B2B Ocean Swim

Welcome to the 2011 training program for the Bondi to Bronte swim. Since the 2010 event a number of people have registered for the program and those who registered for last year, we hope to see you join us again.

The program will be held during November and as it's only weeks away, I thought I would provide you with some details.

Dates: The training dates are Sunday November 6th, 13th, 20th and Saturday December 3rd. Each session will start at 8am and I recommend you arrive at least 10min early to get ready for the training.

Cancellations: The only reason the training may be cancelled would be if the surf conditions are too rough. Therefore, come rain, hail, thunder or cold water, I will be there ready to provide you with the skills you'll need to get into the ocean swimming culture or to help progress your skills.

What to wear: It's recommended that you wear whatever you'll be completing the Bondi to Bronte in. None the less, you can wear whatever you wish to ensure you're comfortable during the training.

What to expect: The training starts off at a very easy level to help build on the skills you'll need. As the program continues, we'll be diving into more challenging drills. Just a reminder though, we're not swimming laps of Bondi in this program, it's designed to develop your ocean swimming skills, so you need to do your own training on the side.

Training: If you haven't already started some training, I recommend that you get into the pool and/or start a fitness program ASAP. B2B is just over 8 weeks away which is plenty of time to build up your swimming strength and fitness.

The common question: "How far should I be swimming in the pool to complete the B2B?" I always say that if you can do 3km in the pool, then that should get you across the line on the day. Swimming in the ocean is more demanding, given that conditions can vary with current, tides, surface chop, wind and swell, but don't worry as that's what our program is going to prepare you for.

Almost that Time of Year Again...

It’s ALMOST that time of year again for the Banana Boat Bondi to Bronte ocean swim entries to open up and we’re sure that you marked our event in your calendar, ready to jump onto the registration portal but you may have to wait a little longer.

Unfortunately we had a few delays with getting the online entries up and running and as a result, we’ve had to push back the opening date. Don’t worry, we’ll let you know as soon as their open for your registration.

So until then, a few updates on what’s happening this year with B2B:

We welcome back our long time supporter and major sponsor Banana Boat for another year
B2B is officially partnered with our new charity beneficiary - The Kids Cancer Project, a new initiative from Oncology Children’s Foundation (OCF)
Swimmers who raise $250 for OCF will receive a full refund of their B2B entry fee ($40)
Some new merchandise and swim wear will be available through the website and on the day
For all those new ocean swimmers who need some ocean training, register for our training program through the website

We’ll be sending everyone on our eNews list notification in the very near future to officially open the online entries.
