Minimum Age of Competitors is 12 years old on race day. No prizes are awarded to the wetsuit category and there are no team entry options for swimmers in the wetsuit category. If you swim in the Elite Wave, you aren’t eligible for age category prizes.
Elite Division
The Bondi-Bronte Swim will offer a separate wave for the fastest swimmers. This Elite Open Wave will be the first wave off the beach (see terms and conditions).
Competitors from last year’s event who swam in the 'Elite Wave' are eligible to enter into the category again.
All other entrants for the 'Elite Wave' should submit an entry for the 'Elite Wave' to the Race Director for consideration.
Approval is given by the Race Director whose decision is final. If you would like to enter into the 'Elite Wave' on the race day you will have to seek approval from the Race Director at the 'Elite Wave' registration table.
Wave Information for 2012
Why do we have waves?
- For swimmer and our water team safety, we need to limit numbers in the water at any one time
- To ensure swimmers are within a category suitable for their age
- To ensure fairness in competition and promote sportsmanship
Why are 10 min breaks scheduled between the waves?
- To maintain swimmer safety at all times
- To limit the number of swimmers on the course at any one time
- To all allow B2B management to assess the conditions and make safe judgement calls for the continuation of the event
- To allow for the on-water safety team rotation
